Ford Verve Concept Hints at Ford's Future Small-Car Design Vision

FRANKFURT, Germany--Ford Verve Concept - a bold and colourful concept car to be revealed at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show - gives the first hints of Ford's future small-car design vision.

The significance of the Ford Verve Concept is that it's the first physical evidence of the design direction for an all-new small Ford since it was announced earlier this year that the European arm of the company's global Product Development group is taking the design and engineering lead in creating a new small-car portfolio for major world markets. The Ford Verve Concept is the first of three concept vehicles which will debut in key regions - Europe, Asia and North America.

"Ford Verve Concept is presented here in Frankfurt as a bespoke concept car to generate reactions while our production plans are taking shape," said John Fleming, President and CEO of Ford of Europe. "Our Design team took an unrestrained approach to how our future small cars could look, and this eye-catching concept was one of the results. If we get the reaction we expect, I'm certain that the team will incorporate elements of this advanced design vision into our final production design. This will make the next generation of small cars from Ford very compelling indeed."

Finished in rich colours and distinctive materials inspired by the world of fashion and cosmetics, the Ford Verve Concept was created by a team of designers from Ford's studios in Dunton, England, and Cologne, Germany.

Building on the kinetic design momentum of Ford's recent iosis and iosis X concept cars, and the more premium feel of production models like the new Ford Mondeo, the Ford Verve Concept is a bold expression of a small-car vision.

As product development of a new generation of Ford small cars continues behind the scenes, Ford of Europe is hoping to gauge public reaction to the Ford Verve Concept during the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Mie nu-mi place.

Unul din lucrurile care m-au atras la actuala Fiesta este tocmai aspectul exterior si bulbucaturile de la faruri - foarte reusit pentru o masina de clasa mica, zic eu. Noul design...e prea agresiv, mie nu-mi plac masinile cu aspect agresiv.

Asta e viitorul :wink: si le vom accepta asa diferite cum sunt de ceea ce avem in prezent.
Hai sa aruncam o privire la masinile din anii 90 si vom constata diferente majore de design. Ne plac astea de acum...iar pe cele de la inceputul anilor '90 le punem la categoria "invechite". Peste 5 ani ti se vor parea aiurea farurile bulbucate de la actuala Fiesta.
FF1, 1.8 Zetec Ghia, Mazda 2 TE.

are un design prea sportiv pentru motoarele de 1.2 , 1.4 care pleaca de pe la 60 de cp(in jur de 60)
din asta ar putea sa faca un kit pt st, si ceva mai usor pt fiesta normala , care trebuie sa fie o masina mica , ieftina si de oras

Corect :wink: sunt curios la ce pret va ajunge,in articol zice ca o sa ia 1,3-ul de 60 cai daca e asa o sa fie submotorizata..

Articolul nu are nici o legatura cu realitatea... 8) 1.3ul probabil va avea 70 sau 75cp. Va exista si un 1.0 turbo de 100cp.

Nu mi se pare deloc prea agresiv. Mai bine asa, decat sa fi avut un design de masina Barbie, gen Toyota Yaris sau Nissan Micra.

PS Acum imi dau seama ca probabil cei de la automarket au tradus textul din engleza de pe vreun site gen autocar si au luat valorile bhp, nu hp. Si motorul de 100cp ei spun ca ar avea doar 90.

Confirmare ca asta e noul Fiesta si nu un fel de Iosis exagerat, de la Martin Smith himself.

'There’s much less of a design jump between what you see here and what will arrive in dealers next year,' says Martin Smith, Ford’s European design boss, and the man behind the Verve. Much less than there was between the Iosis and Mondeo.

Sa facem un mic inventar:

1. E clar ca acest concept este punctul de plecare pentru viitoarea masina de clasa mica de la Ford
2. S-a zvonit ca Ford va renunta la numele de Fiesta
3. Ford vrea sa cumpere fabrica de la Craiova si au declarat ca aici vor fabrica un model cu totul nou

4. Prin articolul de mai sus despre conceptul Verve am citit ca masina este destinata femeilor cu varsta in jur de 25 - 30 de ani

Un nou Puma... hmm... not bad! Dar si Verve mi se pare destul de masculin, mai mult decat alte masini mici oricum.

Ford has dropped the strongest hints about the shape and size of next year’s Fiesta in an ultra-sporty three-door concept called Verve, one of the stars of next week’s Frankfurt Show.

The car is the first of three Fiesta concepts — all with near-production shapes — to be unveiled in the next four months. The others are believed to be a four-door saloon for Beijing in November and a US-spec five-door hatch earmarked for Detroit next January.

Verve, which uses the all-new chassis and component set just launched in the Mazda 2, is clear evidence of Ford’s intention to dramatically lift the emotional design content of its small cars. Martin Smith says his team has been greatly encouraged by the results of several years’ research among “design progressives” — notably young female supermini owners across Europe.

This group has already okayed radical features like the Verve’s aggressive egg-crate grille, the radically raked windscreen, the coupe-like roofline and the fascia design, which draws heavily on mobile phone technology. Ford won’t confirm it, but it seems the only major Verve feature that won’t make production is its lack of a centre pillar and use of frameless doors.

The car, which shares the present Fiesta’s overall length and wheelbase, also shows Ford’s intention to call a halt to “dimension creep” in B-cars. The Mazda 2 has already won copious praise for being slightly smaller and lighter than its predecessor. The present Fiesta is smaller than rivals like the Fiat Punto, Opel Corsa and Peugeot 207, and Ford has established that its research group wants it kept that way.

The new Fiesta, to be launched in various versions between mid-2008 and 2010, will be powered by a comprehensive range of Ford-PSA diesels and Ford-Mazda petrol engines.

Uha.....sa arate asa noua Fiesta si dupa lansarea oficiala, in ziua 2 veti vedea un anunt la Vanzari "Cedez Leasing Ford Fiesta 1.6 TDCI!!" :)

Acum am auzit la radio: Ford a cumparat fabrica de la Craiova si vor produce in prima faza doar noua Fiesta. Varianta noua de Fiesta va fi lansata luna asta in Germania la un salon auto (nu am auzit unde).

These latest photos, although severely obscured by reflecting glass and miscellaneous debris, appear to confirm the dramatic lines of the Verve Concept but slightly toned down for Fiesta series production. We can see the high mounted clear tail lamp lens design, big roof spoiler and headlamp assembly (despite the removed front bumper) which sweeps back into the top of the fender. And despite the two pillars standing in the way, we can see some body lines, solid black B-pillar (not on Verve Concept) and side glass contours, which again, resemble the Verve Concept.

The Verve Concept is set to debut at next week's Frankfurt Motor Show while looking for the market ready version to debut in Europe mid 2008. Expected to be slightly smaller than the Verve Concept Americans finally get the successful Fiesta model which will retain most of its European character a year later. Naturally, some minor design alterations will be made to accommodate US regulations, but basically, what you see is what the U.S. gets.

Noul Verve-Fiesta la Craiova? No way. In primul apare mult mai repede, nu abia peste 12-15 luni, si avand in vedere ca in Romania nu vor face mai mult de 200mii masini pe an la inceput, nu ar fi fabricat exclusiv aici. Se vand mult mai multe Fieste in Europa.

Eu am 2 variante. Prima, cea mai probabila, noul Ka. Apare exact in toamna viitoare si Ford nu are unde sa-l fabrice. Trebuia sa fie construit in colaborare cu Fiat in fabrica Fiat din Polonia, insa datorita cererii imense pt 500 si Panda, nu mai e loc. Asa ca fabrica de la Craiova ar fi o locatie ideala.
Varianta 2: Verve-Fiesta, dar nu hatch, ci varianta sedan, al carei concept va fi prezentat in octombrie la Tokyo.

fleming a mentionat ca au nevoie de 12-15 saptamani de la preluarea fabricii (deci saptamani nu luni) pana pun noile linii si pot incepe fabricatia. E posibil sa faca Fiesta aici. Insa nu exclusiv la Craiova.
