New Ford Focus ST MK3

Ford is readying an all-new hot hatch version of the Focus. Speaking on the eve of the Geneva Motor Show, product development boss Derrick Kuzak confirmed that a new fast Focus is on the way.

"It will get an EcoBoost turbocharged engine, be exciting to drive, great to look at and certainly worth waiting for," Kuzak said. Likely to be badged ST, the new model will ditch the current car's 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine for a more efficient and more powerful direct injection EcoBoost unit.

It`s official! Ford is staying tight lipped for now about exact details, but it's thought to be a 2.0-litre offering 250bhp. Along with 350Nm of torque, it should rocket the new ST from 0-60mph in six seconds and onto a top speed of 155mph. That will put it ahead of the VW Golf GTi and as rapid as the RenaultSport Megane 250.

And while enthusiasts will miss the sound of the old ST's warbling five-cylinder unit, they'll welcome the new car's increased efficiency. Expect 35mpg combined and CO2 emissions of 175g/km. Factor in torque vectoring and a range of driving modes – two of the new Focus' highlight features – and it should be a riot to drive.

The new Focus 5dr hatchback will go on sale early 2011, though, so don't expect to see the ST until later that year at the earliest. Before then, Ford will launch a last-of-the-line RS 'Clubsport' before embarking on a replacement for the RS which will get the same 2.0-litre turbocharged EcoBoost engine, hooked up to a hybrid system complete with four-wheel drive.

Asa ma gandeam si eu.....dar vor fi mai multi caluti. Si consumul cred ca va fi usor diminuat (acum la ora de varf ajung si la 16-17l/100 km).

injectia directa are ca rezultat un consum mai maricel, de regula. daca tinem cont si raportul de cilindree.

avantajul este la taxe. ;)

Ceea ce spui tu este putin ciudat.

Cam toti producatorii se lauda ca injectia directa aduce o usoara reducere a consumului de carburant pentru ca le permite sa obtina un amestec stratificat (neomogen) in cilindru, de unde si denumirile acestor sisteme de injectie:

FSI - Fuel Stratified Injection - la VAG
SCi - Stratified Charge Injection - la Ford, motoare de 1.8 SCi au fost disponibile pe Mondeo Mk3

Amestecul stratificat are un raport stoichiometric (lambda = 1) aer : benzina in jurul bujiei, de unde incepe arderea, ca sa previna detonatiile si sa se asigure o ardere completa. Apoi, spre marginea cilindrului, amestecul este semnificativ mai sarac, mai putina benzina (lambda > 1).

"Stratificarea" se refera asadar tocmai la faptul ca lambda este variabil in cilindru, iar modul de repartizare "pe straturi" poate fi controlat intr-o oarecare masura de catre PCM.

Acest mod stratificat insa se poate folosi doar in sarcina partiala (light load). In rest, si aceste motoare functioneaza in regim stoichiometric pentru sarcina medie, respectiv amestec imbogatit in sarcina mare.

Trecerea dintre cele 3 moduri de functionare se face prin alegerea momentului injectiei. In modul stratificat, injectia se face in timpul compresiei. In celelalte doua moduri, injectia se face in timpul admisiei, pentru a asigura omogenizarea amestecului.

Cat timp functioneaza in sarcina partiala, un motor cu capacitatea cilindrica mai mica va consuma mai putin. De asemenea, in sarcina partiala, un motor cu injectie directa va consuma mai putin decat unul cu injectie indirecta.

Da, Cip, stim asta.
Dar noi discutam despre viitorul ST care va avea motorul EcoBoost 2.0, care dupa toate aparentele va fi in 4 cilindri.

Sigur va fi in 4 cilindri, chiar si asa, sigur inginerii de la Ford vor face ceva (sper interesant) cu evacuarea.
Nu cred ca va suna ca un GTI.

Nu am chef de cearta, desi ar merita sa iti spun vreo 2 chestii:
1. ce scrii tu nu e axioma!
2. nu am raspuns mesajului tau.
3. nu vad din mesajul TAU unde scrie ca e in 4 cilindri.
4. ce-ai scris tu asa interesant la uleiuri!?
5. ai ST ... du-te la sectiunea ST, acolo poti sa discuti despre ce vrei tu.
6. NU am contestat niciodata ce ai spus, doar am incercat sa iti spun ca trebuie sa fii un pic maleabil, mai deschis ...

PS: ma bucur ca ti-a luat ceva timp sa raspunzi la mesajul meu .. adica o zi si cateva ore...te-ai gandit tu ca ar fi bine sa demonstrezi ceva. Felicitari!

@danbld cred ca e mai corect ca discutiile despre uleiuri sa le purtati acolo(sau sa le purtam) .... prea multe suparari de la un rahat de ulei si verga_Cip nici macar nu ti s-a adresat tie din ce vad eu.

ST-ului facai ce vor dar RS-ul trebuie neaparat sa il faca AWD 4WD 4*4 ... cum vor ei numa sa traga cu 4 roti

fratilor, eu din pacate am ramas in urma cu sofatul care imi da un ST si un RS, mk1 si mk2 sa am benchmark ;)
Cat despre cel nou - nu reusesc sa descarc poza :(
4 vs 5 cilindri - exista vreun motor de 2.0 L de 5 cilindri si nu stiu eu?
2.0 L - thank god, asa poate o sa reusesc sa pun si eu mana pe unu, pentru ca la 2.5 m-ar rupe statul si societatile de asigurari.
AWD (4x4) - la 250 cp, nu cred ca are rost sa puna tractiune integrala pentru ca e destul e slab motorul. Daca va avea RS-ul cum are cel de acum 300 cp, atunci da, desi ma indoiesc de faptul ca Ford va pune un Permanent AWD, tind sa cred ca va fi un diferential haldex, dar sper din tot sufletul sa ma insel.
Este vreo specificatie legata de provenienta motorului? Stiti ceva?
Sasiul iarasi, adopta iarasi vreo platforma existenta?
(pentru necunoscatori->FF2 - platforma + motor de la Volvo)

Deci e clar, punem Ford Quattro ca e aceeasi mancare de peste ca la A4. Asa ca muzica noua musca-ti degetele/ tastatura :P (ca de limba nu e cazul aici ;) )

In zilele noastre nu cred ca vei gasi un motor cu 5 cilindri si 2 L. Pot sa-ti spun ca Audi, in 1981, a folosit pe modelul Audi 100 un motor de 1921 cc si 5 cilindri. Noul Audi TTRS are sub capota un motor 2.5 L si 5 cilindri (excelent sunet). Si compania Mercedes a folosit, in 1970, un motor cu 5 cilindri pe modelul 2000s.

Eu is din Brasov si pana pe 8 iulie sunt blocat acas ca am licenta, dar daca esti de acord dau o fuga dupa licenta pana la bucale cu cea mai mare placere.

COLOGNE, Germany – The next-generation Focus will be the star attraction in the Ford display at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, which opens on September 30.

For the first time, the complete global Focus line-up of three production-ready dynamic bodystyles will be displayed together, providing the media and public with the opportunity to see new model before it goes on sale in Europe and North America early in 2011.

Ford is also delivering on its promise to introduce a global performance version of the new Focus with a world premiere for the 250 PS Focus ST. The new ST will launched in early 2012 and will be revealed on September 30 on the Ford stand by Alan Mulally, Ford’s president and CEO, and Stephen Odell, chairman and CEO, Ford of Europe.

The formal launch of the full production-ready Focus range in Paris is significant for Ford, as it signals the introduction of the first truly global product developed under the Company’s ONE Ford strategy.

The Focus is Ford's most significant car range globally. Developed at Ford's global centre of excellence for Small and Medium Cars in Germany for sale in over 120 markets worldwide, the next-generation model is created from Ford Motor Company's new C segment platform with up to 80 per cent parts commonality. This platform will underpin at least ten vehicles globally and account for two million units of annual production by 2012.

New Focus promises to more affordable technologies and features than customers have previously experienced in this vehicle segment. It also offers the highest standards of quality and detailed craftsmanship, plus impressive fuel economy and driving dynamics.

The Focus ST features a 250 PS version of the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder Ford EcoBoost engine. In Paris, the car is displayed in a distinctive 'Tangerine Scream', finish.

New Mondeo and C-MAX on Display

Taking their place alongside the next-generation Focus family will be five-door and wagon versions of the new Mondeo range, which was previewed at the recent Moscow International Automobile Salon. The Paris show sees the debut of the ultra-low CO2 Mondeo ECOnetic version. The Ford stand also showcases the latest S-MAX and Galaxy models which were launched earlier in 2010.

The all-new C-MAX and Grand C-MAX will be represented by high series Titanium models fitted with an EcoBoost 1.6-litre 180 PS petrol engine and the updated 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel. The C-MAX is the first production model using Ford's global C-segment platform. The Grand C-MAX also goes on sale in North America in late 2011.

Lower CO2 Emissions across the Ford Range

Ford is accelerating its efforts to minimise fuel consumption and CO2 emissions across its product range and two new entries to the Ford of Europe product portfolio are being displayed at Paris – the Mondeo ECOnetic model and a ord Ka derivative with standard Ford Auto-Start-Stop system.

These new models follow the significant new developments which have already been introduced during 2010, including the launch of the high-efficiency EcoBoost turbocharged direct injection petrol engine family and updated versions of the fuel-efficient Duratorq TDCi diesel engines.

Ford is also moving forward with its European electrification programme and will be displaying for the first time the core technology that will drive its C-MAX PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle); the vehicle will be produced at the Valencia plant in Spain and is due to go on sale in Europe from 2013.

Along with the wider introduction of low-CO2 ECOnetic Technologies, such as Eco Mode and Smart Regenerative Charging, Ford of Europe is on track to surpass its goal of a 30 per cent reduction in CO2 emissions from its new vehicles by 2020, relative to a 2006 model year baseline.

"The launch of the complete new Focus range, plus the global debut of the high-performance ST model, will make the Paris Show not only very exciting for Ford, but also highly significant," said Stephen Odell, chairman and CEO, Ford of Europe. "With the all-new C-MAX also on the Paris stand, along with the latest Mondeo, S-MAX and Galaxy models, it’s clear that the pace of change within Ford remains as aggressive as ever."

Ford va prezenta în 30 septembrie, în cadrul Salonului Auto de la Paris, noul Focus ST. Deşi versiunea clasică a noului Fpcus nu va fi lansată decât anul viitor, Ford ajunge astfel să prezinte nu mai puţin de patru versiuni diferite înainte de debutul oficial de piaţă a noului model, care de această dată va fi vândut în aceeaşi formă pe toate pieţele lumii: hatchback, sedan, break şi ST.

În comparaţie cu vechiul Focus ST, noul model pierde cilindree, dar câştigă putere. Echipat cu un motor Ecoboost cu patru cilindri de 2.0 litri, noul Focus ST ajunge la 250 de cai putere, fiind la acelaşi nivel cu actualul Renault Megane RS. performanţele noului ST nu au fost publicate încă, însă ne putem aştepta ca acesta să vină că cifre mai bune decât verisunea actuală a modelului, care anunţă 6.8 secunde pentru 0-100 km/h.
Schimbările estetice se mulează pe aspectul noii generaţii Focus, schimbările vizibile fiind apariţia unor lumini de zi LED şi cea a unei nuanţe exterioare aurie care este denumită oficial de Ford "Tangerine Scream".

Deşi va fi prezentat în această toamnă în forma sa iniţială, noul Focus ST va fi lansat oficial pe piaţă abia în primăvara anului 2012.
