Foreigner near Tulcea - please help!

Hello,

I am a Bulgarian Club Ford member staying at Partizani village near Tulcea until June 18th. I need to buy a new coolant tank cap before I go back to my country, but I didn't manage to find one today. (photo added)

I would really appreciate any information about how to find this part in Tulcea auto-shops or something else, because I don't want to rely on any improvisations.

I really don't think the VIN is needed because this is a very common standard cap. It's placed either on the thermostat, or on the expansion reservoir (header tank). Sometimes on the radiator itself. Except Ford, the same cap is used also in other German cars. In the shop they tell me that their distributors cannot provide it. To be absolutely clear, we are talking about pre-1986 escorts. The cap is supposed to keep certain levels of pressure in the system.

@peterdi: the VIN is required and needed in every part search at every respectable distributor. They do not provide parts just seeing the photos...

OK, but for such an old car I don't think my VIN will return back any information. I've tried to use many online VIN data checks, but they don't recognize it. Also is it really necessary for so common thing like this?

go to a part shop in Tulcea with the TOPRAN or CALORSTAT code, and ask them if they can get this parts from AUTOTOTAL, because they have it in stock
AUTOTOTAL is a wholesaler, they won't sell to you directly - they only sell at shops
the part shop should'nt charge you more than 25-30 ron for this cap

or i can get it for you today, but i don't think it will arrive in Tulcea by 18th of June

OK thank you for the information. RC0061 comes as part for minimum 5-6 different car producers - how come they couldn't get it... But you say that maybe it won't be here in time, I don't think it will come quicker if I order it here in some shop in Tulcea. Right now I am in the delta and traveling around is a bit slow, but shops close early and I can't be there in time.
