Un nou motor Ford - 1.6 turbo

Ford will present a 1.6 litre (150-200hp) turbocharged engine that'll replace the current 2.0 and 2.3-liter petrol engines as soon as next year. Expect the turbocharged engine to be offered from the next gen Fiesta all the way up to the Galaxy MPV. The way things are are going in Europe, in a couple of years even your typical gray-haired Mediterranean granny will be overboosting.
Ford has joined the small turbo engine bandwagon. That brings ford into the list that includes;
Renault 1.2 TCE (100hp/106lbft of torque)
Fiat 1.4 T (120hp-150hp/?lbft of torque)
BMW PSA 1.6T(150hp-175hp/177lbft of torque)
Opel 1.6turbo (180hp-192hp/170lbft of torque)
VW 1.4 TSi (122hp/148lbft of torque)
VW 1.4 TSi twincharger (140hp-170hp/177lbft of torque)

One advantage all these engines enjoy is a much flatter torque curve which allows the engine to stay at lower revs and necessitates higher ratio gearing for cruising.

The main motif is fuel economy, but an equally important advantage is the ability to increase even greater economies of scale as in the case with PSA and VW.

Rather than engine size separating range, turbo boost pressures would be used which is easier and cheaper. One engine can replace three different engines in a company's range. Now we are just waiting for the Japanese and American automakers to catch up.

Ford tocmai a confirmat noul motor. 1.6 turbo 180cp, 240Nm, 5.4l/100km mediu. E acelasi motor pe care in curand il vom vedea pe Fiesta ST.

Inca nu s-a auzit nimic de Fiesta ST, dar daca au de gand sa il produca, probabil ca acest motor va reprezenta noua inima a bestiei
